Garage conversions will often necessitate extra insulation as the garage space will be altered to a habitable room, and consequently has to adhere to building regulations for insulation in this kind of room. These regulations specify a U-value for insulation, which assesses the rate of heat loss. These are set differently for walls, flooring, and roofing. To adhere to building regulations the garage conversion must meet the U-values in all of these areas, but supplementary insulation can be installed to exceed these values and increase energy efficiency. Wall insulation for garage conversions is typically accomplished by employing internal wall insulation, which adds insulated plasterboard to the pre-existing walls. This will add thermal insulation and prevent heat from dissipating through the walls. Insulation must be installed around windows and doors as these areas can leak heat especially badly. Roofs for garage conversions will also require insulation. Pitched roofs will require insulation to the same level as the rest of the property. Flat roofs also require insulation. This is performed using a cold roof system, where insulation is fixed between the roof joists along with ventilation to avoid condensation forming. The other option is a warm roof, where insulation is installed above the roof joists. Floor insulation is also required in garage conversions. This is easier if the floor level of the garage requires elevating in order to meet the rest of the house as an extra layer of insulation can be easily added to either a lifted concrete floor, timber joists or a floating floor. If the floor does not need to be raised it may be necessary to dig out the floor to add the required insulation.

Watton is a market community in the area of Breckland within the English county of Norfolk. The A1075 Dereham-Thetford road and also the B1108 Brandon-Norwich Road meet at a crossroads below, where the town developed, about 20 miles (32 km) west of Norwich. The civil parish covers a location of 7.2 km2 (2.8 sq mi) with around 6,800 residents in 3,000 families, increasing to a population of 7,202 in 3,226 at the 2011 Census. The Domesday Book recorded that Watton (or Wadetuna) included a church, manor house as well as Anglo-Saxon negotiation. A station at Watton, on the Thetford & Watton Railway, opened in October 1869 and enclosed June 1964. The line itself was closed in April 1965. In 1984 Watton was twinned with the Lower Rhine (Niederrhein) community of Weeze, Germany, with the subsequent twinning charter being formally checked in 1987.
